Rockville Library Renovation

The Office of Facilities is embarking on a new project for the Macklin Tower library on the Rockville Campus, transforming it into a vibrant hub of social and academic life for the MC community.

Hord, Coplan, Macht (HCM) architects has been engaged to design the renovation of the library and we invite you to take a virtual 3-D tour of the future Library, courtesy the designers at HCM.

Renovation Timeline Library

  • Embark: Spring 2024
    • Commission the design team.
  • Engage: Fall 2024
    • Engage the College community for the most desired amenities.
  • Design: Fall 2024–Summer 2025
    • Design a vibrant new hub of social and academic life.
  • Renovate: Fall 2025–Fall 2027
    • Construct a reenvisioned intellectual hub where inclusivity, technology, and creativity converge.
  • Unveil: Spring 2028
    • Celebrate the grand opening to the College community.

 During the renovation all of MT will be closed except for:

  • English and Reading Departments to temporarily remain in MT
  •  Public access will be at the WRLC’s MT 020 suite only. No access to offices on 4th and 5th floor except for staff and faculty of this department.
  • MBI Finance Lab and offices, in MT 101 suite and MT 102 will be open to the public.
