Crowdfunding at MC
Crowdfunding Overview
Crowdfunding is an internet-based social fundraising effort where individuals or groups solicit the general public and MC community members for donations to support a specific project or initiative. MC utilizes the GiveSmart platform to facilitate these efforts through text-to-donate, recurring gifts, and peer-to-peer fundraising.
Important Guidelines
To ensure student success and maintain the integrity of our philanthropy, all campaigns must adhere to the following:
- Mission Alignment: All gifts must be compliant with the College’s mission.
- Strict Prohibitions: Funds may not be raised for a specific person, and volunteers are prohibited from keeping any portion of the funds raised.
- Named Purposes: Requests to use crowdfunding for named or individually designated purposes will not be approved.
- Identity and Branding: You are not permitted to use the College or Foundation name, marks, or logos without prior written consent.
- Review Timeline: Submit requests as early as possible, as the vetting process may take up to 30 days.
The Crowdfunding Toolkit
Upon approval, the lead crowdfunding ambassador is responsible for preparing all campaign materials and information. For the best results, dedicate time to research and prepare your strategy, ensuring your pitch clearly defines how donations support student success. We recommend securing initial donations from close supporters to build early momentum, keeping in mind that the Foundation committee must approve all messaging, design, and timing before the campaign officially launches.
