Montgomery College offers a range of programs designed with safety at the forefront. Whether you are looking for a state vehicle license or have an interest in public safety, we are local leaders in providing the best training.

Driver's Education / Driver's Education with Additional Support

More Information about our Driver Education Courses 

  • Our course is approved by the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA) and consists of the required 30 hours of classroom instruction and 6 hours of graded behind-the-wheel lessons.  Successful completion of this driver education course is one of the requirements for obtaining a Maryland driver's license.
  • Driver Education with Additional Support has the same curriculum as Driver Education, but is taught by a certified MSDE special educator to help all students.  
Motorcycle Safety

  • Our motorcycle safety courses are available for students looking to add the "M" endorsement to their driver's license. We offer both beginner courses (BRC) and advanced courses (BRC2-LW).
  • All motorcycle courses are developed by the Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) and are recognized and approved by the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA). 
Commercial Driver License (CDL)

  • A CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) meets standards that are the same for every state; It differs from the Maryland "operator's" or "chauffeur's" licenses. It is required if you drive combination vehicles (Class A), heavy straight vehicles (Class B) or small vehicles (Class C).

Basic Special Police Officer (SPO) Academy
  1. Special Police Officer Academy Classroom and Lab (PST001 and PST012). This meets Maryland's  required 80 hours of training. Students will complete both parts to receive a certificate of completion.  Learn more about the Basic Special Police Officer Academy new window.
  2. Special Police Officer Training, 12-Hour In-Service ((PST013). This is for SPOs who need to complete the 12 hours of Maryland Police and Correctional Training Commissions approved in-service instructionLearn more about the SPO In-Service Hours.
